MacBook Neo is the first Mac to ship with an A-series chip
The MacBook Neo shipped today with the A18 Pro, making it the only Mac not built around an M-series chip.
It uses a variant that exists nowhere else. The 6c CPU / 6c GPU A18 Pro is the part that shipped in the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max in September 2024; the MacBook Neo gets a 6c CPU / 5c GPU, one GPU core fewer.
The rest of the chip is what we've already seen in an iPhone 16: 16 Neural Engine cores and 35 TOPS, and 8 GB of memory at 60 GB/s — against a 16 GB floor and 153.6 GB/s on the M5 in the MacBook Air 13″.
