iPhone 17e launches with a new A19 variant
The iPhone 17e arrived today with a 6c CPU / 4c GPU A19. It is the new smallest member of the A19 family, as the iPhone 17 uses a 6c CPU / 5c GPU A19.
| CPU | GPU | Neural Engine | Memory | Bandwidth | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A19 6c/5c (iPhone 17) | 6 cores | 5 cores | 16 cores | 8 GB | 68.3 GB/s |
| A19 6c/4c (iPhone 17e) | 6 cores | 4 cores | 16 cores | 8 GB | 68.3 GB/s |
Both are manufactured on TSMC's 3nm node: One GPU core is the sole difference on the SoC — the 17e keeps the same CPU, Neural Engine, and 8 GB of RAM at the same bandwidth.
New modem, no new radios
The 17e ships with the C1X, Apple's 4nm second-generation modem, described on this site as twice the speed of the C1. That is a step up from the iPhone 16e, which used the original C1 — and it puts the 17e on the same modem as the rest of the iPhone 17 line.
However, the 17e is the only iPhone 17 model without the N1 — Apple's Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread chip — and the U2 ultra-wideband chip. The 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max all carry both.
